So Far So Good; Right?

This year has been one disaster to another. Tho I have made some progress amidst the chaos; I have come out and made the decision to go full-time. Really the longer I put it off the worse off I will be. Really now is the time to start planning the transition road-map--which involves a lot of research and discovery, my psyc is less knowledgeale on transition than I am so the onus is on me to seek out the relevant information myself.

One of the avenues I am going to explore is the local Perth Trans* society--The Chameleon Society. Networking will mean I don't have to do this journey on my own, and having a network that has gone thru what I'm about to will really help in sourcing the relevant info. The next meeting is tomorrow, ut I'm not sure I can make that one.

Tho, coming out has been strange. Many of the friends I have come out to have basically said 'yeah, I already kinda knew'. I think that is important to note for any closeted girls that may be reading: Your friends know you, they know who you are and they wouldn't be your friends if they didnt accept you for who you are. I emphasize this, a male friend found out--not by me telling him, but thru the grapevine, and he was actually angry that I did not confide this information to him; Had absolutely no problem with the trans* thing, he just thought it showed a lack of trust. I did not expect that.

Lessons learned are to have more faith in those around you.

First...

First post and lets set the scene here, I have been blogging on and off for some time but this my dears is the first blog I have as Portia; My suppressed inner female. Yes I by a loose definition of the word am a man in my 9-5 life, however this sojourn called life may take a turn and maybe go full-time with Portia.

So some basic facts about me:
  • I am a carbon based life form (I have had no evidence suggesting otherwise)
  • Im 32 years old
  • I work as a web developer (why I chose blogger over wordpress I may choose to address in a later post)
  • I am not insane, I have that in writing.
  • I have just started a Law degree (which is more a case of bad application design, but again, I will perhaps elaborate at a later date.)
  • I like lists, I like them so much I even sometimes like to write them out in html in a text editor and then paste them onto the text area.
  • I am unsure of your definition of a nerd, but I may fit most criteria.
  • I drink too much
  • Single.
  • Lost count of the amount of dresses I own, but there is around 2 feet of floordrobe in my bedroom
In my habitual list-making world, I started to write out an additional list of untrue things about me, but then I decided that this should really constitute its own blog post. This is really just an introduction, Im Embarking on a new chapter in my life and I would like to document and share what Im going thru. I have been inspired by many trans-woman bloggers to publish as Portia, and now is the time when I feel I finally must bite the bullet and start. Not only now Im starting a new degree, possibly leading to a new career, but Im also coming out as Portia to more and more people, and the web is my professional realm, so this blog is me coming out to my good friend port80, and of course anyone else out there who takes the time to visit.

Now it really is time for another list; Things I actually do like:
  • Boots - I dont have enough
  • Corsets - I have around 20, not enough tho
  • Steampunk. I should order this steampunk corset!.
  • VidyaGamez
  • CamelHumping words in written English (its a bad habit I know)
  • Lists, list elements, and inline lists
  • Dolphins.
  • Internet Memes.
  • Well documented API's
  • Google
  • Skyrim. lvl 64 Breton Battlemage. 1000+ hours. I have yet to download the DLC.
Anyway thats enough for an introduction, and if you have read this you possibly know more about me now than a few seconds ago, but feel free to pop back from time to time. I dont bite... that hard
